MDP Live - The Detroit Pistons fence the Straw Grant with exorbitant prices ahead of the trade deadline which will close within the next 24 hours. Dwane Casey's team wants 2 first-round draft picks from teams that are interested in Grant's services.
The name Jerami Grant is indeed often targeted by big NBA teams lately. Grant was once targeted by the Los Angeles Lakers who needed a winger. At that time, the Lakers offered Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, and the 2027 first-round draft pick. Unfortunately the offer was still rejected by the Detroit Pistons management.
According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski as a well-known reporter for ESPN, the Pistons asked for at least two first-round draft picks from teams interested in Grant's services. The Lakers then withdrew and did not pursue Grant's services again. Now, one team that is reportedly serious about signing Grant is the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Blazers recently split with Norman Powell, Robert Covington and CJ McCollum. Grant's name could have been chosen to accompany Damian Lillard in their starting lineup. But with that high price tag, are the Blazers willing to sacrifice their two first-round draft picks for Grant alone? Everything will be known in the next day. Grant himself actually did not experience problems when strengthening the Pistons. Grant has made it clear that he doesn't want to be the second attacking option in the team. He wants to be the spearhead so that his productivity does not decrease.
