MDP Live - Undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor is furious that his ranking has been abused by being placed fourth behind three other British fighters in Boxrec's pound-for-pound rankings. The boxing website places the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO super lightweight champions in fourth place on their list behind three Britons, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Callum Smith.
The 31-year-old Scottish man expressed his disappointment after seeing his place in the boxrec rankings. Along with a laughing face emoji, the boxer nicknamed The Tartan Tornado tweeted:
"Number 4????''
"What else must I do to have my name respected?"
Boxing fans were quick to comment on Taylor's placement on the list, with one saying: "This list is ridiculous."
Another said: "How do AJ and Smith top @JoshTaylorBoxer on this list?"
And another said: "Josh Taylor is the best fighter from England in over a decade. Sad that the British boxing audience doesn't know that."
One commented: "Pound for Pound Number 1 all day. Totally broke everyone in his path, brought some big names along the way. Pay a little respect to the man's name."
Another chimed in: "This is ridiculous."
Taylor became the undisputed super lightweight champion last May with a unanimous victory over Jose Ramirez in Las Vegas. Josh Taylor will defend his belt against England's Jack Catterall at Glasgow's Hydro Arena on 26 February 2022.
