LOS ANGELES — Reggie Jackson scored 12 of his season-high 36 points in the fourth quarter while adding nine assists and eight rebounds, and the Los Angeles Clippers finished a four-game season sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers with a 132-111 win Thursday night.
Ivica Zubac had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Clippers, who seized control of their sweeping win and seventh straight win over the Lakers overall by scoring 23 straight points during the first six minutes of the third quarter.
The Clippers outscored their rivals 37-10 late in the third quarter before picking up their fifth straight win in eight days, including two over the Lakers.
The win was the latest in a torrid streak for the Clippers, who have won seven of their last eight games without possibly their three most talented players: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Norman Powell.
While none of the trio is expected to return, Jackson and a formidable backing cast have kept the Clips on course for another playoff spot with increasing odds of avoiding a play-in tournament after this win, which pulled them in one game. from seventh place Minnesota.
"We're out on a mission," Jackson said. "We want to close. We're still a hungry team. … We feel like we're writing our own story. We know what the narrative is with our people. We're trying to do something special with this group. It's about this team, to write our own story."
